Blog #4

I remember watching the local news one evening and the topic was about Welfare and drug screenings in Texas. I didn’t know what to think or if I even cared. I felt as if it wasn’t my business because I didn’t receive government assistance of any kind. Looking back as I read responses from current postings I would have to say I now have an opinion on the subject. I think women on Welfare should be focused more on raising their children and seeking employment or education rather than smoking pot. Monies spent on pot should be spent on providing a better life for the children especially when mothers are receiving assistance. After all mothers only qualify to receive assistance if they have children. The only alternative to not passing the drug screen would be because of medical reasons and the mom having permission by her physician. I think it’s a great idea to have Welfare recipients screened.
